By 2014 it will be nearly impossible to get a first run feature on 35mm print. The industry’s switch to Digital means that thousands of independent theaters will have to get rid of their film projectors in preparation for the new, and expensive, digital projectors.
Changeover is the story of one of those independent theaters, a drive-in located in the hills of Pennsylvania, and it’s final screening of 35mm print film. Bill is a life long projectionist, having learned the skill set from his father, and now owns his own theater. As he prepares for one last night of analogue presentation, he muses on what the switch means to him and his business, and performs the reel to reel changeover one last time.
