Twelve courageous patients of the first Public Health clinic in the USA for transgender people share their amazing life experiences of the “bad old days,” decade by decade—from the closeted 1950s through the height of AIDS in the 1990s. The film then shows what a difference compassionate health care can make, in a clinic that pioneered an approach to transgender health that led to a new national model of care.
